The reality of 'course is that the vast majority of those who
express concern about the impact of alcohol in general, of all the age groups are not anti
alcoholic.

We are a group of college students and our concern is
about the harms caused by the alcohol when inappropriately used,its impact on
health and community and about the devastation caused to those who drink, their
families and innocent victims of harms when alcohol is excessively used.
The newspapers tell us that more than a major percent of the police
operational issues are related to alcohol
caused accidents.
Our vision was very clear : drinking is not cool! But how
to convey this in an effective way?
It was decided that focusing less on the physical effects
of drinking, our campaign would divert more in to the loss of social status,
how would any of us feel if we were
shunned by our surrounding society and
friends? It basically plays around anybody’s greatest fear “lack of
coolness”!
As part of our student social responsibility project, we
aimed at bringing more awareness among the age group of 13-19.
It gave us a lot of enthusiasm and joy when we were given
an opportunity to visit the Amrita Institute of Medical Science and interact with a couple of patients under
the supervision of the doctor of the de-addiction department. Talking to the patients about their life experiences
brought out the diabolic truths on the harmful effects of alcohol.

Our doctor indeed was very helpful and friendly, he gave
us a lot more information on the biological aspects of alcohol addicion and
deaddction. He also gave us a brief idea on the various deaddiction methods which included
1)self motivation
2)de-toxification
3) de-addiction &
4) physcho social therapy.
Moreover ,he also talked about the toxic and adverse
effects of alcohol on human health.
After gathering all that information ,we set back to our college to discuss and plan further on our campaign which mainly focused on creating awareness among the teenagers .
